"City of Vice" is a great idea damned by poor execution. Set in grimy and dangerous 18th century London, the series relates the efforts of a pair of sibling magistrates to establish a police force. Starring Ian McDiarmid (well known to American audiences through his portrayal of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in the Star Wars series) as novelist turned magistrate Henry Fielding, "City of Vice" bores with dull dialogue, unlikeable characters and a slow-moving plot. I persevered through the first episode, encouraged by a tiny upsurge in plot speed near the end, but gave up part way through the second.

I agree. And the Blind Guy as Super Disability Man was just silly. At one point he is described as knowing over 3000 individual members of the criminal underclass merely by the "sounds of their voices". C'mon!
