Something to Talk About

In A Wednesday, director Neeraj Pandey explores the impact of terrorism on ordinary Indian people. There are no muscular, wise-cracking action heroes here. No gorgeous women. Few jaw-dropping action scenes. Just a well-acted, compelling story with an ambiguous ending. Whether there's a bad guy at the center of the action is uncertain. A Wednesday leaves you with a lot of questions to talk over with your viewing buddies: What role does the media play in terrorism? Is vigilante justice acceptable when it's directed against terrorists? Are democratic systems of justice effective in protecting people against terrorism and in bringing terrorists to justice? What can ordinary people do to combat violence?
If you like unpredictable thrillers with plots you can still recall a day or two after seeing them, check out this one. In Hindi and English.

I liked this one a lot... I thought the two leads (the Good Guy and the Bad Guy) were just right for the roles they played. They displayed just the right balance of compassion and aggression while both stepping over the lines that separate right and wrong.
