The idea for Preposterone.com came to us one evening while we were watching Mark Wahlberg in The Shooter. During one silly scene in which the out-gunned protagonist easily manages to fend off 28 well-armed mercenaries, we laughed at the abundance of both preposterousness and testosterone grunting and sweating across our TV screen between explosions. "Preposterone" seemed an apt description for the movie we were watching that night and for many others we've seen before and since.
Our favorite Preposterone movie is the original Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, a working class New York police officer out of his element in the LA headquarters of a wealthy Japanese company, and the perfect Alan Rickman as Hans Grüber, a literate European thief and custom-tailored suit afficionado posing as a terrorist. At their best, Preposteronis like Die Hard are funny and full of unforgetable quips. The characters — both good guys and bad — charm and amuse you. The action is so well executed that the impossible seems plausible. And even if it's not entirely plausible, the movie has you so engrossed you don't notice and don't care. (For more about the Preposterone goodness in Die Hard, see tpb's excellent review.)
We're always looking for good movies to watch. We hope you'll take a few minutes to review one you loved (or hated) so we've got something we've never seen before to pop into the DVD player on Saturday night.
Thank You
We'd like to thank A & C for their patience, company and for enjoying movies right along with us.
